Message Board - The Voices of Men
In Praise of Jane Austen

The Bulletin Board was inactivated on July 18, 2002, an anniversary of Jane Austen's death. This followed four and a half years of lively conversation with the community. I list here the last month of that activity for the benefit of Internet archeologists and crime-scene investigators. A large part of the web site remains open.

The postings made at The Bulletin Board supplied the major portion of the content at this site and you can review all that at the Index and Archive by subject. The archive also includes an Index by Names of Posters as well as a Chronological Index. For those of you who would like to explore the remaining features of the web site, here are links to the Table of Contents, and an introduction and explanation for you at the Home Page. The community still keeps in touch in the Male Voices Newsletter, The Loiterer.

This web site was introduced on December 16th, 1997 because that was the 222nd anniversary of Jane Austen's birth. This date was also the 227th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven.
